Washington CDL at a Glance
Washington state uses a weight-mile fee system for commercial vehicles, similar to Oregon. All CDL operators of vehicles over 26,000 pounds must register and pay mileage-based taxes in Washington. The state also has strict environmental rules for diesel idling in populated areas and specific chain requirements for mountain passes including Snoqualmie and Stevens Pass.
